Excellent point!

god serves several psychological purposes -
  • a father figure
  • a friend
  • gives a purpose to life
  • gives a reason to be good
  • allows every question to be answered
  • allows every event to be part of a greater plan
  • encourages one to be humble
  • relieves one from having to fully deal with disappointment
I guess I can go on and on. it's easy to see why this is so enticing and once you're hooked it's hard to face the facts and realize that there is a chance that this may not be real!

instead of discussing how the world was created, which admittedly neither sides knows and any speculation is baseless, and instead of pointing out all the gaps in today's scientific knowledge, which both sides agree exist, but that do nothing to weaken the scientifc process, instead of all that, let's go back to the original subject.

it's not possible to prove god DOESN'T exist, just like it's not possible to prove the flying speghetti monster doesn't exist. but for those who claim to know (or at least believe) that god does exist, the burden of proof is on you. the way I see it you have three options:
  • use the scientific method of evidence and logic to prove god exists.
  • abandon logic and accept blind faith. this is respectable, but requires you to (for the purpose of this logical debate) admit that
    • you can't prove god exists, and therefore
    • you can't claim to have no doubt that god exists.
  • ignore all this and post more endless details about the gaps in science, which proves nothing.
choose wisely!
