Maybe the agent just meant it as a poorly executed hint to a non-rev that they are tight on meals and they should leave them for the "paying" passengers first. Better ways to ask the non-rev, but I don't see anything wrong with the request.

I ask the FA if there are enough meals or snacks before I take one (if I can get the words out before they throw it on my tray table,) even on a vacation pass or DHing. Just something I picked up non-revving (buddy passes) growing up; I just thought it was standard non-rev courtesy.


Granted...Buddy passes are more like 1/2 revs now with the new fee structure, but they are still non-revs in the end. Why should a full fare passenger miss out on the food for a non-rev?
