I had 2 friends fly on mainline using buddy passes. The flight had at least 30 seats open and when they got their bording passes she wrong "no meal" on their boarding passes.

There's a possibility they weren't cartered correctly, but no matter the reason what's the purpose of writing it on the boarding pass since the FAs never see it?
