I am a former XJT pilot, now at CAL, I can remember thinking when they announced that 69 airplanes were being pulled that CAL was the enemy, but certainly not the CAL pilots.

Let's not forget that until a week ago things were not looking good for XJT pilots either. But with the exception of a few class of 83-85 pilots, nobody at CAL was excited to see Express take a turn for the worse. Most everybody that I talked with felt very badly about what was happening to XJT. When we were still hiring I, and countless other pilots at CAL, helped as many XJT people as we could get over to CAL.

Those of us that came to CAL did so because we felt it was the right decision at the time, and I still do. Even if I have to endure the furlough I will still come back to a good job that I really enjoy. I feel that the different types of flying that we do has led to a better quality of life for myself and my family. Sure, I wish things were better now, but I will never regret my decision to make the jump when I did.
I don't want to see any pilot lose a job or get a furlough notice. I have to laugh at your comment. The only pilots at Cal that might care must have gone there within the last year. I jumpseated on numerous flights and not one pilot knew anything about what was happening at Express.

They looked at me like I was crazy for looking at Emirates. I actually had a Cal captain ask me why I haven't applied at Continental yet. Neither crew member even knew that Cal had stopped hiring let alone every other major airline.

Like I said I don't want to see any pilot lose a job but most pilots at majors don't know and probably don't care about any regional carrier.
