First off that's not true. The current pay scale was a 1% raise on all 50 seat scales and a 5% override for the 700/900 pay scale. For example 3rd yr captain I make 61.59/hr on the 50 seater and just under $65/hr on the 700. (Or when trying to break guarantee on reserve you get an extra 5% of the block time added on to each leg). The 50 seat scale actually catches up to and overtakes what you guys make on a 50 seater as you gain longevity.
Second - don't read too much into that 170 pay scale. The old payscale had rates for any sized jet over about 70 seats - which basically meant if they bought 757's we'd be flying them for what we make now - the way they got rid of that was to agree to the current rates which only go up to the EMB170 airframe.
