to summarize, we have about 5 atheists and a precession of theists. The way I read it, each theist presented his reasons for belief, and the atheists shot them down consistently to where the only one left was "cause the bible says so." the theist then goes on to say that he has the right to belive no matter what the atheists say (which is absolutely true) but goes just short of saying "even though I really can't prove god exists." then the theist stops posting and a new one pops up. no theist has stayed here long enough to answer the doubts raised by the atheists about any PROOF of god's existence, and the reliability of the bible. the atheist have asked questions that are unaswered, such as
- is there any more evidence that god exists than evidence that santa claus exists?
- if christianity is all about love thy neighbor and such, why are atheists treated worse than a bleeding rat in a tampon factory?
- is there anything in the physical world that can't happen without god?
we also had a short discussion about creationism and about abortion. we all agree about abortion - it's bad and shouldn't happen. but we disagree about whether the govt. has the right to control it. and surprisingly we had little luck trying to talk sense into the couple of guys who swear by creationism and reject evolution.
I can tell you that personally I'm sincerely looking for any shred of proof or evidence god exists, because I really need to understand how the majority of the population in the world believes it. it's stupifying! so far in 100 pages, "I still haven't found what I'm looking for."
(maybe that's what U2 was singing about... it's a gospel song originally)
