That's the mistake "ya'll" keep making. Christianity doesn't try to compete. It never has.

Just ask the Kansas Education Board if they're trying to compete. They may not represent all of Christianity, but they are competing in the name of religion against science, and they control the education of many unsuspecting children.

of course I'm making stuff up, this is an analogy I made up to make a point. The point was that our point of view is very narrow, and it's easy to think there's a god that looks down on us and controls what happens to us specifically. But when you're flying at FL370 and can see half the state, you realize that each person down there is just a part of the big picture, and their life is just one of millions affected by nature. No "one" or "God" or higher power cares about them specifically (IMHO). The tornado makes that point. The reaction to the tornado (as in "it's god will my house was destroyed") is, in my experience, typical of religious people and often doesn't come from themselves but from their ministers or pastors, in an effort to ease their suffering. if you disagree, then spell out what you disagree with, rather than saying I have limited knowledge in the matter (compared to you, I assume)
Merry Xmas BTW
